Parents & Friends Association

What does the PFA do?

We organise events and activities throughout the year, to raise  funds for our school and to encourage closer links between school and home. We run events throughout the year, including:

  • Christmas and Easter Activity Days
  • Annual camping trip
  • Summer Fair
  • Annual bike ride
  • Quiz nights

What happens to all the funds we raise?

Everything we raise goes back into the school. We have just contributed towards the new school playground, raising enough money to pay for the newly-built sports area fence. Past donations include:

  • Books for classrooms and the school library
  • Science equipment
  • Christmas pantomime coaches and snacks
  • Classroom games boxes for wet play days
  • Sports and activity days

What responsibilities do PFA volunteers have?

We meet regularly throughout the school year to organise the smooth running of events, decide on committee members, share ideas, volunteers and socialise. Committee members take on extra responsibility such as event organiser, treasurer, secretary, catering etc. All volunteers are parents or carers at St Mary’s – we donate some of our spare time for the PFA. Teachers also get involved at certain events.

What responsibilities do PFA volunteers have?

All parents and carers at St Mary’s are automatically members of the PFA. It’s up to you how much of your time you choose to help out. If you feel you’d like to help out, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Join the Facebook group:
    www.facebook.com/groups/StMarysPrimaryE17
  • Keep an eye out for newsletters, events and requests for donations – we often ask for cakes to sell at events, volunteers to help set up and clear away at fairs, catering staff and donation for the tombola.
